I wouldn't mind payin a donation to an owner in exchange for bein able to smoke in a tavern. That would be like 250 extra bucks to help the owner pay the ticket. If I pretend 50 smokers in a tavern donate $5 each.

If people think cigarette smuggling is bad back east, try California where they come across the border from Mexico along with everything else being smuggled in from there...and, of course, with all of the accompanying dangers including not knowing if the cigarettes are legitimate or, if not, what else is in them as "filler." Just think how bad it will get if California's tobacco taxes get jacked up like some of the eastern states (despite the Golden State's reputation, even some name brands can still be found here for less than $5 a pack).

I'm not completely anti-tax on cigarettes or any other unhealthy item. However, members of both political parties that love "sin taxes" need to learn the lesson that there is a tipping point between using a tax to discourage overuse (or, use at all) and making the cost so high that the criminal element steps in to fill the void.

I find it incredible that there is a ban in public outdoor areas that there is no smoking. Maybe there should be designated smoking areas in the park, etc. That way there is a choice to avoid if you don't want to be around it.

I also wish this amendment would pass, if only for the chance that it might allow clove cigarettes(and of course, other flavored cigarettes, which btw ONLY made up something like 1% of all U.S. cigarette sales, before the 2009 ban) to be legal once again. Damn, do I miss cloves so much!

Hey illinois I dont smoke but I do not think passing a law without letting those people whose rights have been taken away is not the way we are supposed to do things....... Whatsoever next without our knowledge? Plus now ....did you know cigarette butts do not disappear ? You know like sidewalk chalk? No they are ALWAYS there . Oh yeah so are those who are drinking and swearing and talking bar talk outside. Oh I know we should clean it up but people dont always throw the butts in the right place. Sooo The grass and rocks amd gravel still have butts. I dont smoke but I choose to go where I want to go ....at least for the.time being . What happened to the people getting a say .you have hurt the economy and now have to rethink what youve done .....had you put it there for to .the owners and thier customers to VOTE on you would've saved alot of money ..maybe il would have some. I am scared that this.kind of thing will.keep.happening.until the people have less and less freedom .
