Satin cigarettes

Satin.  This is a brand which existed in the 80s.  I believe Lorillard is the tobacco company who made em.  I think Satin actually first hit the market in the 70s.

I first heard of Satins off of the smoking message boards/forums.  But I dont remember seeing the Satin pack or Satin ads in my boy days.  I dont even remember seeing this brand in cig vending machines!

(Yes, I lived during a time when kids and teens could buy packs from cig vending machines, and IDs werent required for those pack purchases.)

Satin is obviously one of many cig brands which no longer exist today.

These were great cigarettes. Available in 100's..Regular and Menthol with a "Satin" Filter tip. I smoked them for their entire run. They were discontinued in 2007 or 2008. They were in a vending machine at the bar I went to quite a bit. A very non descript pack, but a great flavor. Aimed to the female market, but I loved the damn things. They started out great, but in the ensuing years with no advertising..the now defunct Lotillard Tobacco Co. "dropped" them, and also "Max 120's" and "Newport Stripes"..all at the same time.

I remember trying Max Menthols and the regular Newport Stripes with the pink rings on the filter. But I sure am sorry I never tried those cute-looking Satins. At least they were all-white babies.

It's taken me over a year to reply but yep "Satin's" were a really good, cool and classy smoke. The filter tip was a white/Ivory color and shiny. Newport Stripes and Max 120's were def okay too!! I actually saved a pack of Satin when they were discontinued plus the original carton. Someone has a Pack of Satin Menthol on ebay, but I wouldn't want to smoke them now..lol..It's interesting that you collect the old ads for these brands. I do too as well as the actual Packs. This is a really nice site Jay!! I know quite a bit about these older brands, so if you would like to know anything about any brand, please feel free to ask...Take Care!!

I never tried Satin but I do miss Max Menthols. They were a good full flavor 120. Tasted like a 120 version of my Newport 100s. I do remember seeing packs of the actual Newport 120s in the 90s. Unfortunately, by the time I became a daily smoker, the Newport 120s were discontinued in 1998. I missed my chance to try those all white 120s.

Yes. The Newport 120's were very short lived and were in full flavor and lights. I'd switch off to Max non Menthol every so often. You probably might have liked "More White Lights 120's" from the 80's that were available in Regular and Menthol (all white) but also was not a crowd pleaser from RJR. Tho they lasted for a few years.
