Anotha smokers-based rally coming up (in Iowa this time)

I'd like to pass this smoking-based rally info along to both Iowa smokers and IL smokers.

Although this rally is in Iowa, the smoker who told me about this event hopes any IL smokers who live in her area (near the IL/Iowa border) will show their support at this Iowa rally. This rally is focusing on Iowa smokers fighting for their right to smoke in places.

If you neva heard (for those who smoke in IL), Iowa is entertaining the idea of having their own state smoking ban. And I hear Iowans ain't taking the proposed idea lightly.

My description of smoking a cigarette

When I pull out a cig from a pack, I look at the cig, and I smell the tobacco end of it. I love smelling an unlit cig.

I put the baby into my mouth, I flick the lighta, and I drag and inhale the lightup smoke. A lotta people, especially smoking chicks, exhale as soon as their cig is lit. But I wanna savor that smoke inside of me.

When I smoke, the only thangs on my mind are otha topics I'm interested in. Holding a lit cig makes me feel powerful. And I love seeing the lit end and the minty smoke from that end going up into the air.

I eitha pump or take long drags....that's how I smoke. I wanna get the most outta every cig.

When I was able to smoke inside, I used to look at myself in the mirror as I smoke a few times. Cigs look the best when you light up a new cig.

I notice sometimes when I exhale, I make thin exhales. I know what it means when you exhale very lil smoke. But I live only once. And I might as well savor the precious minty smoke in me.

And when I put the end of the cig out, I basically light up anotha one. I've even smoked 2 menthols at once a few times in the past. But I neva do that type of smoking in public. While I've neva smoked a NF brand before, I have smoked nonfilters in the sense of me cutting the filta off before lighting up. If it was possible to smoke while sleeping, I'd definitely do that.

A Brilliant MARKETING STRATEGY using the “will of the people” to sell their products. Capitalism at its finest! http://www.rwjf. org/files/ publications/ books/2005/ chapter_02. pdf

FACT: Of the 123 second hand smoke studies conducted since 1980 (64 spousal, 25 work, 9 social, 25 children), only 16 showed a measurable positive risk over decades of exposure. FACT: The pharmaceutical industry as a whole has paid out $1,051,183,170 to lobby Washington, the FDA, and related regulatory agencies promoting their drugs and products since 2003. MORE THAN ONE BILLION DOLLARS! http://www.opensecr ets.org/lobbyist s/indusclient. asp?code= H04&year=2006 (link to 2006, just select additional years for further info)

We have become a nation of drug addicts, whether legal or not, with the Pharmaceutical industry as the supplier, and ethically challenged organizations like the American Cancer Society acting as the pusher for profit while our government looks the other way and pretends that it’s not happening. Smoking Bans are not about improving the health of anyone.

The only health concern here, is first and foremost about a healthy bottom line for the Global Pharmaceutical industry.

A smoker running in a marathon, at the age of 101

Marathon hopeful, 101-year-old , training hard

101-year-old Buster Martin.
Reuters - Mar 5, 2008

LONDON - Already Britain's oldest employee, 101-year-old Buster
Martin now aims to become the world's oldest marathon runner by
completing the London Marathon and celebrating with a pint of beer
and a cigarette.

Sprightly and bearded, he completed a half marathon at the weekend in
five hours 13 minutes. The former Army physical training instructor
works three days a week for a London plumbing firm and says he has
trained for the April 13th race in his spare time.

"I've said I'll attempt it," he told Reuters by telephone from his
workplace at Pimlico Plumbers. "I haven't said I'll complete it. If I
do make it, all the better. I hadn't thought of doing it before but
someone asked me and the money goes to charity so why not?"

His sponsorship money will go to the Rhys Daniels Trust, which
provides temporary accommodation for families of patients in
specialist children's hospitals.

Martin, who had 17 children and returned to work at the age of 99
saying he was bored after two years of retirement, would beat the
previous record for world's oldest marathon runner by eight years.

"If I finish, I'll do what I always do and have a pint and a fag," he
said. "People ask what is my secret but I haven't got one. They say
fags and booze are bad for you—but I'm still here, aren't I?"

Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS)

http://www.osha. gov/pls/oshaweb/ owadisp.show_ document? p_table=INTERPRE TATIONS&p_ id=24602

Environmental Tobacco Smoke (ETS)

Because the organic material in tobacco doesn't burn completely,
cigarette smoke contains more than 4,700 chemical compounds. Although
OSHA has no regulation that addresses tobacco smoke as a whole, 29 CFR
1910.1000 Air contaminants, limits employee exposure to several of the
main chemical components found in tobacco smoke. In normal situations,
exposures would not exceed these permissible exposure limits (PELs),
and, as a matter of prosecutorial discretion, OSHA will not apply the
General Duty Clause to ETS.

Smoker gets arrested for tapping ashes on pavement (UK)

This is one of the funniest pieces of news I've heard about regarding an actual smoker-related incident my whole life. A man gets arrested in the UK for tapping cig ashes on the pavement?? WTF is this world coming to??

ARTICLE LINK

If someone ever thought of getting ME arrested for tapping ashes o the ground outside, I might remind him/her there are more important thangs in this world. How about trying to arrest these prostitutes on the streets instead?

I wouldn't blame a US smoker for punching the sheet outta someone for taking him/her to court for just tapping ashes on the ground.

Some Thoughts

Since this is a public blog. I will say some IL smokers are trying to dig deepa into this 1914 case that dealt with a judge declaring that banning smoking in IL is illegal. Me certainly ain't gonna go into details on that in here, but you can read details if you're a memba of the IL Smokers group.

I've also learned in recent months on how some smokers are actually trying to conduct tests involving air with tobacco smoke in it, and testing out the air that's smoke-free. Hearing about that topic brings a smile to my face. Because one way a person can see proof that clean air is not really safe air is by testing out the particles within that air.

And once someone can show a legit test that clean air is actually dangerous air to inhale, then that's one way of trying to bring down a smoking ban. Even I know smoke-free air is not clean and safe air to breathe. When a stove is on in a kitchen, that pollutes the smoke-free air.

I'm not going into specific details on these "tests" I heard about. Antis don't need to know that sheet anyway.
